Team needs help with trip to world championship

A group of students have a shot at a world championship, but they need your help to make it happen.

Fifth graders from Hemmeter Elementary School in Saginaw Township worked with animal control officers in January when the officers stayed out on a cold night to raise awareness of animals left out in extreme weather.

Students used what they learned to develop a program that brought them to this point, but getting to the championships will cost money.

"It's over $800 per student and we have our registration fees and transportation fees of the set, and we need a substantial amount of money," said Joshua Brown, the 5th grade team manager. "So we're looking for any help we can possibly get."

The team set up a GoFundMe page.
