A teen from Deckerville survived a rollover accident in Sanilac County.
First responders were sent to a single vehicle rollover accident on East Deckerville Road, near Burgess Road, in Marion Township on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 a.m.
The investigation shows that a 2007 Saturn Vue was westbound on East Deckerville Road.
The driver, a 17-year-old male, said he was trying to avoid a deer when he swerved into a ditch on the southside of the road.
The Saturn hit a driveway embankment and rolled multiple times, deputies said.
Airbags did deploy and he was wearing his seatbelt.
The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, Deckerville Fire Department, and Sanilac EMS responded to the crash.
The fire department and EMS stabilized the crash. The driver’s injuries were treated and he was released at the scene to a parent.
The sheriff’s office said it does not believe alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
