A crash between a truck and Tawas school bus has sent one person to the hospital.

It happened at 6:45 a.m. at US-23 and Aulerich Road in Iosco County’s Baldwin Township.

Michigan State Police report that there were four students on board the bus at the time, none were hurt.

Troopers said that the bus was making a left turn from US-23 to Aulerich Road when the accident happened.

The driver of the pick-up truck, 28-year-old Christopher Hilyard of Oscoda, had no headlights on, and the bus driver said they didn’t see him.

Hilyard had to be cut out of his vehicle and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw. At last check he was in fair condition.

Troopers said Hilyard’s alternator was out and he was following his girlfriend to the repair shop at the time of the crash.

Investigators said he is at fault and could be cited.

The bus driver was not hurt.
