More changes are coming to the downtown Midland streetscape.
Construction begins this week on two Main Street pergola structures that will be located on the southeast corner of Ashman and Main, and the northwest corner of Rodd and Main.
The pergolas are intended to add a visual element, while also providing some seating and shade for visitors.
As construction gets underway, there will be times of limited sidewalk access around the construction site, but walkways and parking will remain open.
“We are extremely grateful to Chemical Bank, Three Rivers Corporation and the numerous local businesses who are so generous with their time, talent, and funding,” said Community Affairs Director Selina Tisdale. “The pergola structures and other amenities add a personal touch to the new streetscape and contribute greatly to the uniqueness and charm of downtown Midland.”
The City of Midland said to watch for further streetscape amenities to be added throughout the summer.
