A missing Flint Township girl has been found safe after she was reported missing more than a year ago.
Aireona Smith was reported as a runaway on Aug. 1, 2016 and had been missing since.
Several tips were sent in throughout the year by residents on social media, missing persons groups, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
All leads were investigated, but police were unable to locate her until Thursday, Aug. 3 when authorities said she walked into a public library in Toledo, Ohio. A security guard recognized Aireona from a missing person's poster and called 911.
Officials said the teen was in good health and it appeared she was not held against her will. She was returned to Flint on Monday, Aug. 7 and will be receiving help from MIDHHS.
