A head-on crash has claimed the lives of two local men and now investigators have identified the victims.
It happened about 4:51 a.m. Tuesday on westbound US-10, east of M-18 in Midland County's Jerome Township.
Investigators said they received several 911 calls reporting a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of US-10, west of Coleman Road. A short time later, a head-on crash was reported in the area.
Steven Fitch, 57, from Lake and 23-year-old Brandon Scherzer, from Freeland, were killed in the crash, police said.
Fitch was driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota pick-up truck and Scherzer was driving a 2015 Chevy Silverado pick-up truck.
The incident remains under investigation pending toxicology reports for drugs and/or alcohol.
Westbound lanes on US-10, just after River Road, were closed for several hours Tuesday morning. They reopened just before 9 a.m.
