A Mid-Michigan bell ringer is spreading holiday cheer as his festive performances are going viral.
The video posted to Facebook and YouTube shows Joseph J. Stricker, of Saginaw, jamming and dancing to songs like “Christmas in Hollis” and “Wobble” outside the Sam’s Club in Saginaw Township.
“I love seeing all the smiles on everyone’s face as I danced the entire time at Sam’s Club with great music playing,” Stricker wrote on Facebook.
He's become an overnight viral sensation.
"I dance, I dance the entire time I'm out here," Stricker said, owner of Martial Arts Connection in Saginaw.
When he's not busy teaching martial arts, during the holiday season Stricker volunteers his time with the Salvation Army through Saginaw's Sunrise Rotary Club.
Stricker said this is his fourth year of volunteering as a bell ringer for Salvation Army.
"Some of the rotary clubs, they donate their time to the Salvation Army for ringing of the bells and I know our particular rotary club has been doing it for several years," Stricker said.
Stricker stands for about two and a half to three hours, dancing and entertaining shoppers.
"For me, I'm getting people to not only smile and donate money, but some of the other bell ringers are having a great time as well," Stricker said.
It's not just Christmas music that he's dancing too either. Stricker takes pride in providing a variety of hits towards his audience.
"I have a playlist for everyone, so I've had people come up and start singing, even to some of the oldies and I'm like 'wow, I didn't even know you knew that song,'" Stricker said. "And their singing with me and dancing with me and it's just great."
Stricker will be at the Sam's Club in Saginaw Saturday, December 16 from noon to three.
