Pinconning police are calling a Mid-Michigan woman a hero after she found a little girl wandering outside by herself.
Carol Dembowske was sitting in her office at Leo Everett Insurance Company in Pinconning when she saw the girl in the parking lot.
The girl then started walking towards M-13, which is a heavily trafficked road, and walked into the road.
Dembowske told TV5 she ran and grabbed the girl.
The girl told Dembowske she was looking for her brother, Dembowske said.
Pinconning Police Sgt. Terry Spencer said had it not been for Dembowske, the girl could have been hit by a car.
"Carol is the hero of the day," Spencer said.
The girl's parents have been located.
The case will be filed with the Bay County Prosecutor and Child Protective Services has been notified.
