MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University outdoor track & field teams have qualified five student-athletes to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The championships will be Thursday-Saturday (May 24-26) at the Irwin Belk Complex on the campus of Johnson C. Smith in Charlotte, N.C.
Northwood has a total of seven entries for the outdoor championships. Two of the five athletes participating at this year's championships are returning qualifiers.
Phillips will be competing in three different events – the 200 meters, 4x100 relay, and the long jump. Bent will be competing in the 100 meters and the 4x100 relay, while Hamlet will compete as the third leg of the 4x100 relay.
Junior Rami Gharsalli will round out the 4x100 relay team and compete in the 110 meter hurdles for the second year in a row.
In the throws, senior Paul Evans will compete in his second consecutive outdoor championships in both the hammer and discus throws.
