The Spirit had their three-game winning streak snapped Sunday evening against the Eastern Conference leading Oshawa Generals, 4-3 on the road.

New York Islanders prospect Cole Coskey scored two of the Spirit’s three goals in Sunday’s contest against the Generals.  The Zion, Illinois native has points in seven of the eight games the right-winger has played in this season.

Saginaw Spirit captain Damien Giroux notched his team-leading seventh goal in the second period against Oshawa.  The Minnesota Wild fifth-round draft pick has four multi-point games this season for the Spirit.

Ilya Solovyov, the 2019 Saginaw Spirit first round Import Draft pick, collected two assists in Sunday’s contest.  The Belarusian defenseman leads the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with 13 helpers this season.

The Saginaw Spirit’s Cole Perfetti and Ethan Cardwell were each named to NHL Central Scouting’s October “Players to Watch” list for the 2020 NHL Draft.

Perfetti was one of eight players in the OHL indicated as a potential first round candidate with an ‘A’ rating.  The Whitby, Ontario native is tied with Niagara IceDogs right-winger Philip Tomasino for third in the OHL in assists.

Cardwell, a 2018 second round pick of the Saginaw Spirit, has tied last season’s point output (5) in eight games this season.  The Spirit center has collected five points in the last three games for Saginaw.

Wednesday’s game will highlight two of the OHL’s top man-power advantage units.  Saginaw and Peterborough have each converted on 30% of their power plays this season which is good for fourth and fifth respectively in the OHL.

Toronto Maple Leafs signee Nick Robertson is a contributing factor for the Petes power play success.  The Peterborough Petes left-winger has scored three of his eight goals on the man-power advantage this season.

Russian-born center Semyon Der-Arguchintsev leads the Petes in assists (12) and points (14) this year.  Der-Arguchintsev was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round of the 2018 NHL Draft.

2019 Peterborough Petes first round pick Mason McTavish has been on fire through six games in his rookie OHL campaign.  McTavish has four goals and three assists for seven points so far this season.

Five NHL prospects were returned to the Saginaw Spirit prior to the start of the regular season. Blade Jenkins (New York Islanders), Cole Coskey (New York Islanders), Nicholas Porco (Dallas Stars), Mason Millman (Philadelphia Flyers), and Damien Giroux (Minnesota Wild) have all been returned to the Spirit. Bode Wilde remains with the New York Islanders, while Ivan Prosvetov is playing for the Arizona Coyotes affiliate Tucson Roadrunners.

The Petes also have five NHL prospects currently on their roster, forwards Zach Gallant (signed - San Jose Sharks), Liam Kirk (Arizona Coyotes), Nick Robertson (signed - Toronto Maple Leafs), Semyon Der-Arguchintsev (signed - Toronto Maple Leafs), Declan Chisholm (Winnipeg Jets), and goaltender Hunter Jones (Minnesota Wild).
