Fans talk pre-game predictions, superstitions ahead of Lions game
SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) - Call it manifesting or superstition, Detroit Lions fans at Grand Central Sports Bar in Saginaw shared their pre-game rituals and predictions on Friday, Jan. 26.
“Thirty years in the making my friend, 30 years,” said Scott Armstrong a Lions fan.
A historic playoff run a long time in the making has Detroit lions fans pumped up for the game on Sunday, Jan. 28.
“I’ve got some predictions, but I don’t have no superstitions. The lions are going to win,” said Jim Gonzales, another Lions fan.
These die hards have some bold predictions.
“It’s going to be great. We’re going to pull off a win on Sunday, 28-17, Lions,” Armstrong said.
Armstrong has been waiting a long time to see his Detroit Lions play the way they have this year, faithfully supporting his team at Grand Central Sports Bar on game days.
Aside from making sure his group is the loudest table at the bar, there’s something else he does to keep the good faith with his team.
“Always wear my Barry Sanders jersey, always,” he said. “And ever since I’ve been wearing it, they’ve been winning.”
Gonzales said he’s been a Lions fan longer than he can remember.
He was decked out in his Lions gear, but he said he doesn’t believe in superstitions. Gonzales said he will be donning some extra Lions swag to show his pride on Sunday.
“I’ll have on my jersey, this is just a t-shirt, but I’ll have my jersey on,” he said.
Impressed by what he’s seen on the field this year, Gonzales is pretty confident in what we can expect from the game.
“27 to 31, Lions,” He said.
Kayla Maul has been a server at Grand Central for 10 years.
“This year, we’ve seen tears from die-hard Lions fans, so it’s just really exciting to see everybody so happy and come together,” she said.
Expecting a big turnout Sunday, the sports bar is expecting to hear a whole lot of, “Go Lions!”
