Pit bull dies after being found tied up in trash bag in the woods, officials say

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT/Gray News) - Animal control officials in Virginia are looking for the people responsible after a dog was found tied up in a garbage bag.

On Monday, Richmond Animal Care and Control officers found a female red and white pit bull with cropped ears off Buttermilk Trail.

The dog was fighting to free herself while being tied up inside the trash bag in the woods.

Officers said they tried to keep the pit bull alive while they rushed her to the vet but she died shortly after arriving there.

Officials believe the dog was about 4 years old. She had no chip or identification of any kind.

The Richmond Animal Care and Control made an Instagram post about the dog’s death, asking if anyone recognized the pit bull.

Animal Care and Control and the Richmond Police Department are asking for help from the public to “find the person(s) responsible for this savage act of cruelty.”
