Midland man sentenced for possession of child abusive material

MIDLAND, Mich. (WNEM) - A Midland man was sentenced May 28 to four concurrent prison terms of 4 to 15 years for possession of child sexually abusive material.

Larry Eugene Edwards, 38, was sentenced in the 42nd Circuit Court following his guilty plea to four counts in February.

Edwards was on parole at the time when he committed the crimes. He received no credit for time served while the case was pending, and the terms must be served consecutively to his parole violation term.

The convictions arose when Edwards’ phone was taken during an investigation into suspicious activity on his social media account involving a minor.

The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit analyzed the phone and found several photo and video files containing child sexually abusive material.

Edwards pleaded guilty to the four counts Feb. 26.
