Saginaw police announce the passing of William Ruth
SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) - The Saginaw Police Department announced on social media that William “Bill” Ruth died at 4:57 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2026. He was 74.
The department said Ruth served with the Saginaw Police Department from 1974 until his retirement in 2001. During his career, he worked in patrol, community policing, narcotics and traffic services.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Bill’s family, friends and all who had the honor of working alongside him,” the department said in the post. “His dedication, service and legacy will not be forgotten.”
