Saginaw man arraigned on third-degree and fourth-degree child abuse charges

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) — A 33-year-old man has been charged with child abuse after an incident on May 29.

Kylen Richardson of Saginaw was arraigned on third-degree and fourth-degree child abuse charges in the 70th District Court of Saginaw County. He is scheduled for a preliminary exam on June 17 at 1:30 p.m., according to Saginaw County court records.

State troopers were dispatched to the area of Parkside Court and St. Paul Drive at 12:15 p.m. after reports of a young child knocking on doors looking for help.

When they contacted the child, troopers determined that the child’s caregiver had punched, kicked and strangled him. They made contact with the child’s mother, who was not at home at the time of the incident. Troopers discovered that a toddler sibling was unaccounted for. They searched the family’s residences and located the toddler unharmed, sleeping inside. The toddler had been alone for more than an hour.
