U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to hold open house on Midland flood reduction
MIDLAND, Mich. (WNEM) — Midland residents will have the chance to make their voices heard on the topic of flooding at an open house with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The open house is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 3 p.m. to 7 at the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center on the Northwood University Campus, the Midland Business Alliance said. Community members will be able to attend as their schedules allow.
The USACE will share what it has found in its General Investigation study of the Tittabawassee River Watershed, and what could change. The goal is to cut flood damage, protect homes and businesses, and weigh the cost and feasibility of possible projects.
MBA said a video presentation will be giving an overview of the study and Tentatively Selected Plan, and participants can visit information stations to learn more and talk with the USACE professionals.
There will be free parking at the event adjacent to the building, and no prior registration is needed.
