Sunny Friday & weekend!
SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) - Your First Alert Forecast shows no signs of rain for at least another week. While we are in need of rainfall, the flip-side still means good conditions for working outside, weekend plans, and grad parties! This weekend will be a nice way to close-out May.
Warmer Friday
Today will be sunny with a high of 82 degrees. The normal high for May 29th is 73 degrees. Northwest winds will pick up late this afternoon, with gusts potentially reaching 20 miles per hour. Sustained speeds will stay around 5 to 10 mph. Tonight, expect a mostly clear sky with a low of 47 degrees. There could be a brief period of gusts near/after midnight reaching 30 mph from the northeast.

Overall, this Friday will be nice for outdoor plans, dinner on the patio, taking the classic out for a cruise, or simply just going for a walk!
Weekend Forecast: BRIGHT!

Saturday will be very similar to Thursday’s conditions: sunny with a high of 66 degrees and a northeast wind. Some gusts will reach 25 mph. Temperatures close to Lake Huron will be cooler than inland areas. We expect a range of about 65 to 72 degrees across the TV5 area. Lows will fall to 45 degrees Saturday night.
Sunday will bring mostly sunny skies (just a few cirrus clouds moving through) with a high of 74 degrees. The wind will be lighter at just 5 to 10 mph from the southwest. It’ll be really nice!
Looking ahead to next week, temperatures will hold in the low to mid-70s early in the week before climbing back toward 80 degrees by Thursday. While Thursday of next week is the earliest possibility for rain, any chance remains uncertain as of now. That chance could shift to Friday, or may just end up not materializing at all.
Fire Danger Remains Elevated + Drought May Reappear
The extended dry period has kept an elevated fire danger across our area. Burn restrictions remain in place, with the DNR prohibiting debris burning in most areas. Until we receive a better rainfall, this will remain a concern.
Although the May 28 update of the Drought Monitor still did not show any drought or abnormally dry conditions in Michigan, we do expect the next update on June 4th to likely start showing abnormally dry conditions at the least.
