Armed barricaded suspect taken into custody in Cass City, MSP says
CASS CITY, Mich. (WNEM) - Michigan State Police troopers responded to a barricaded suspect in Cass City.
The suspect was safely taken into custody by troopers about 10:50 p.m., Michigan State Police said. As of 10:54 p.m., trooper remained on scene continuing their investigation and asked people to continue avoiding the area.
According to a post on X, Caro post troopers were called to the home in the 7000 block of Cass City Road around 3 p.m. Saturday after a reported felonious domestic assault.
State police said a preliminary investigation indicates the suspect was armed with a shotgun and barricaded himself inside the residence when troopers made contact.
Members of the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team responded and were working Saturday evening to safely take the man into custody, police said.
Authorities said there is no threat to the community because the incident is contained to the residence, but as of 9:33 p.m. Saturday, were urging people to avoid the area while police operations continue.
The agency did not immediately release the suspect’s name or additional details about the reported assault.
