HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. (KPTV/Gray News) — A man who secretly lived in the crawl space of a family’s Oregon home for months has been sentenced to prison.

The Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office said 41-year-old Beniamin Bucur lived for almost three months in the crawl space under a townhouse. He constructed an elaborate living space complete with lights, a kitchen and a gaming area.

The district attorney’s office said he would come and go while the family living above him was unaware of his presence.

He was discovered after a neighbor noticed him going into the crawl space last September and called police.

Investigators also found a sword, multiple knives and a pipe with methamphetamine residue in the crawl space.

Bucur was convicted of first-degree burglary and sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday.

He also pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine prior to the trial.

Bucur faces additional burglary charges in Washington County for an unrelated incident. Prosecutors said Bucur has a criminal history going back more than 20 years.
