HURON COUNTY, Mich. — A Ruth man has been charged in a Huron County shooting that left a man fighting for his life.

The Huron County prosecutor says Caleb J. Powers is charged with assault with intent to murder and felony firearm.

The charges stem from a shooting on May 10 in Paris Township, where Powers is accused of shooting a 48-year-old man in the chest.

The man was taken to two hospitals and airlifted to one of them when doctors found a bullet near his spine.

Powers’ bond is set at $500,000. He is due back in court on June 12.
