New exhibit to open at the Castle Museum

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) - A new exhibit at the Castle Museum of Saginaw County will shine a light on the vibrant world of early 20th century women’s clubs.
“Women’s Night Out” will feature rare photographs taken by Wallace Goodridge of Saginaw’s Goodridge Brothers Studio in the early 1900s. It offers a compelling glimpse into the lives of the women who gathered in these clubs to socialize, according to the Castle Museum.
“The photographs in ‘Women’s Night Out’ invite viewers to look closer. They raise important questions about the roles women played in shaping cultural life in Saginaw,” said Tom Trombley, Chief Historian. “Though some answers remain elusive, the images speak volumes about the power of gathering, storytelling, and self-expression.”
These images, drawn from three distinct collections, showcase club members engaged in theatrical activities, not on public stages, but in the intimate setting of private homes, the Castle Museum said.
The exhibit opens in the Castle Museums West Gallery on Monday, Oct. 27, and runs into 2026. The Castle Museum is open seven days a week and is free for all Saginaw County residents.
