GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WNEM) - The Genesee County Election Commission denied the recall language for six Grand Blanc Township officials because it was not clear, the Genesee County clerk said.
The recall language was filed against Grand Blanc Township Supervisor Scott Bennett, Clerk Dave Robertson, Treasurer Mike Yancho, and trustees Joel Feick, Paul White and Sarah Hugo.
The language stated that they allowed Fire Chief Jamie Jent to be placed on leave from Oct. 20 to Oct. 29, and allowed the terms of Jent’s reinstatement to include 90 additional days of employee probationary period.
Monica Shapiro, who previously ran for township supervisor, led the recall effort. The Genesee County Clerk tells TV5 Shapiro can appeal the decision within 10 days or submit new language at any time.
Shapiro sent TV5 this statement, saying she plans to resubmit the language:
Bennett also sent us a statement, saying the recall is not about concern for the fire department:
