Here are five things you need to know for Tuesday.
- An investigation is underway at Central Michigan University after a series of threatening posts appeared on the school’s social media accounts Sunday afternoon. Police Chief Cameron Wassman said the author of the posts lives off campus and is not capable of following through on the threats. He said he is unable to give any more information at this time, and investigators need to conduct more interviews before deciding whether criminal charges are warranted.
- Plans to refill Sanford Lake in Midland County after a catastrophic dam break and flooding in 2020 could begin as early as Wednesday, according to the Four Lakes Task Force. The project marks a milestone in the restoration process. Task Force President Dave Kepler said more details about the refilling process will be available later today.
- Former University of Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore is scheduled to be sentenced at 2 p.m. today in Washtenaw County court. He was arrested in December, reportedly after breaking into the home of a woman he was accused of having an affair with. He was initially charged with felony home invasion and two misdemeanors. Those charges were dismissed last month when he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device.
- Versiti Blood Center is hosting a community blood drive at Live Oak Coffeehouse on Abbott Road in Midland today. The group is trying to reach a goal of 20 donations that could impact up to 45 lives. The drive runs from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Bay City’s historic Masonic Temple is hosting a craft-along movie night from 7 to 10 p.m. today. Attendees can bring paints, yarn, tablets for drawing or other art and craft projects to work on while watching a movie. Admission is by donation to the Masonic Temple.
